Pumping up state pensions with inflated years of service and perks will be banned under a new House plan to be unveiled today as a Herald review shows the number of retirees hauling in six-figure pensions has doubled in just four years.
The sweeping reforms would close egregious loopholes such as allowing state employees to tack on an additional year of service when they’ve worked only one day of that year.
And elected officials voted out of office would no longer be allowed to double their pensions.
