Summers’ decision to accept the freebie raises questions about his ability to remain impartial in those crucial deliberations, critics said.
“It certainly raises the question about Mr. Summers’ relationship with Citigroup,” said Barney Keller, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Republican Party. “One would hope, given the financial crisis we’re in, that there’s as much transparency and disclosure as possible for all individuals involved with fixing the (financial) problems.”
