Alderman Burke has also been quoted referring to African-American police brutality victim as a nigger, which doesn't seem to bother Roland Burris or Chicago Democrats.Since Alderman Burke has more money in his campaign fund than Mayor Daley and Governor Pat Quinn put together:Roland Burris can breath a little easier.
But Sen. Roland Burris has every reason to ignore calls for his resignation.
He still has friends in some pretty high places.
Ald. Ed Burke (14th), a power broker in Chicago politics, introduced Burris to a sold-out City Club of Chicago luncheon at Maggiano's Restaurant on Wednesday and tried to portray Burris as a victim of injustice.
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends," said Burke, quoting the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
