A debt-ridden Mass Pike is pushing the financial pain onto motorists who now face massive toll hikes that could take effect as early as March. It's expensive to pay state troopers more than the Governor.
Public hearings and a final vote are still needed, but $2 tolls at the Weston and Allston-Brighton booths and a whopping $7 fee at the Sumner and Ted Williams tunnels are coming down the Pike.
The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority board approved the hikes today in a 4-1 vote, arguing they have no other solution.
