In Chicago, Mike Bloomberg has nothing on Mayor Richard Daley

The New York Daily News reports:

Daley is the iron-fisted ruler of a city beset by problems - out-of-control murder rates, rising taxes, looming municipal layoffs and entrenched corruption. Yet he hasn't faced a serious challenger in a generation - having bought off, scared away or outright demolished all his competition.

Chicago has rather low standards.
