Bankruptcy talks begin in San Diego

The San Diego Union Tribune reports:
Bankruptcy talks began, kind of, in San Diego Monday when City Council President Scott Peters invited public comment for a Tuesday closed-door hearing on whether it should be considered here.

"How did that even get on the docket?" Councilman Jim Madaffer interjected.

The question offered an early indication of how un-seriously council members are going to take outgoing City Attorney Michael Aguirre's request to hire the lawyers who led the city of Vallejo into bankruptcy earlier this year to lead a discussion on whether San Diego should follow suit.
Fannie and Freddie melted.Lehman went bankrupt. The City of Vallejo went bankrupt. Why not San Diego?
