Overpaid Government Worker reports:
The treasurer of Massachusetts has asked the federal government about lending Massachusetts money under the same favorable terms it has given banks and firms during the financial crisis.
Here's a story from 2007 from the
Boston Globe:
Of the 320 troopers permanently assigned to Logan and the turnpike, at least 185 -- or 58 percent -- made more last year than the $140,535 governor's salary and at least 37 topped $200,000 in earnings, according to a Globe analysis of payroll information obtained under the state public records law.
Of the state's 2,338 other troopers, 225, or about 10 percent of the total force, made more than the governor last year.
Recently,we have heard from liberal Democrats that the financial crisis is due to greed and the failure of capitalism. When Massachusetts asks for a loan from the federal government will be hear that allowing government workers to vote for politicians who overpaid them is one of the basic failures of democracy? Does Massachusetts have to pay 10% of the its' state troopers more than the governor of their state? Are federal taxpayers really going to want to subsidize a these government workers when they make more money than the typical taxpayer?
