Wounded Chicago Teen Says He Must Change Public Schools to Stay Alive

The Chicago Sun-Times reports on Obama's hometown:
Joseph Jackson has wanted to go to Hyde Park High School since he was in second grade. They have programs for carpentry and bricklaying, skills he wants to master to get a job and make a better life for his family.

The Robeson High School student hopes he'll now get a chance to attend Hyde Park for another reason -- to save his life.

Jackson, 16, and his cousin Dionte Jackson, 12, were shot and wounded in Englewood on Thursday evening while walking to the store. A group of neighborhood teens who went to a rival elementary school exchanged words with the Jacksons earlier Thursday before returning to shoot them in the 7200 block of South May, the Jacksons said.
and these stunning Chicago murder statistics:
So far this year, 332 people have been murdered in Chicago, compared with 290 by this time last year.
Gun control and public education sure aren't working too well in Chicago.I guess this is a Democratic problem since everyone in politics, in Chicago, is a Democrat. No word yet from the Obama campaign on this one.
