From Six Flags Great America to the Art Institute of Chicago, local tourist attractions are rolling out discounts and ramping up marketing in a bid to save the summer season from soaring gas prices.Chicago's new 10.25% sales tax is no help either.
Worried that prices above $4 a gallon will keep customers at home, Great America in Gurnee is offering a buy-one-get-one-free ticket promotion and admitting adults for the price of a child's ticket. The Field Museum cut some ticket prices, while promoters of the musical "Wicked" last week offered theatergoers a $50 gas card.
