Gambino Crime Boss Pleads Guilty to Extortion

The AP reports:
A man reputed to be a leader of New York's Gambino crime family has pleaded guilty to extortion.

Joseph Corozzo pleaded guilty Friday in federal court to charges that he conspired to extort a cement company. Prosecutors dropped a drug trafficking charge.

Corozzo was one of 62 alleged Mafia associates rounded up in February and charged with crimes dating to the 1970s.

The plea bargain calls for him to serve four to five years in prison.

He is among nearly 50 people who have pleaded guilty in the case.
