Chicago Has A Murder a Day: Rate up 12.7% From Last Year

The Chicago Tribune reports on Chicago :
the city announced that homicides rose 12.7 percent from January to May compared with the same period last year.

According to statistics released by the department, there were 177 slayings in Chicago in the first five months, compared with 157 for the same period in 2007. Robbery during that time rose 10.2 percent
