Republicans are crowing about a new Gallup poll (see it here) that shows John McCain losing the Jewish vote by nearly a 2-to-1 margin against Democrat Barack Obama.
Why is the GOP smiling about Obama’s 61-to-32 lead over McCain among Jewish voters?
Because President Bush got no more than 25 percent of the Jewish vote in 2004 and perhaps 19 percent in 2000.
If a Republican tops 30 percent of the Jewish vote, it’s bad news for Democrats — particularly in Florida, where an estimated 7 or 8 percent of voters are Jewish.
