Heathcare strike in Sweden grows

UPI reports:
About 7,000 healthcare professionals in Sweden have walked off the job demanding better pay, a healthcare organization estimated Tuesday.

More than 4,300 workers allied with the Swedish Association of Healthcare Professionals on Monday joined a 3-week-old nurses strike, the Swedish news agency Tidningarnas Telegrambyra reported.

The association has also issued authorization for workers to continue striking past May 16, should conflicts remain unresolved.

Negotiations are scheduled to continue Tuesday.

"Our aim is to get a new agreement that gives us more money but also more influence of the salary developments locally," a statement on the association's Web site reads.
Socialist health care could kill if someone is on strike.
