St. Louis Area home sales continue slump in March

St. Louis Dispatch reports:

Sales of existing houses declined in most counties in the St. Louis region in March, according to figures released by area Realtors.

St. Louis city saw a 24 percent decline in sales compared with March 2007 and a 30 percent drop in median price to $87,000, according to local Realtors.

The median price is the point at which half of the houses sold above and half sold below.

St. Louis County saw a 21 percent decline in sales, but a more modest drop in median prices, 4.2 percent to $148,450.


In St. Charles County, sales dropped 42 percent, but the median price stayed steady at $184,000.
