Mayor Daley to Ban Unregistered Guns 1000 Feet From School, Park, Courthouse or Public Housing Development

Mayor Daley wants to take reactionary gun control to the next level. The Chicago Tribune reports:
Mayor Richard Daley announced Wednesday he would introduce an ordinance to guarantee jail time for anyone convicted of carrying an unregistered weapon within 1,000 feet of a school, park, courthouse or public housing development.

Under the proposal, anyone convicted would face between 90 days and six months in jail and a fine between $1,000 and $1,500.

"This ordinance is one more tool," Daley said. "I believe it sends a very strong message that we will not tolerate guns in all of our communities."
Mayor Daley doesn't mind corrupt Chicago police officers carrying guns. Why just yesterday The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
A Chicago cop once honored for arresting more drunk drivers than any other Illinois officer faces felony charges for allegedly filing a bogus police report on one of his arrests.

John Haleas, 37, is charged with four counts of official misconduct, two counts of obstruction of justice, and four counts of perjury in a grand jury indictment dated April 9. He will make his first court appearance April 25, according to court records.
Or who could forget Chicago's William Hanhardt the infamous Chief of Detectives of the Chicago Police Department who ran the nation's most successful jewelry theft in American history? Or Chicago Elite Special Operations Unit which was recently disbanded because:
Seven officers have been charged with robbery and kidnapping.
