Pay strike grounds flights in Germany

The Financial Times reports:
Another substantial pay increase in Germany’s “mega wage year” became more likely on Wednesday as thousands of public-sector workers forced the cancellation of more than 330 flights and rallied support for their 8 per cent wage rise claim.

The show of strength by baggage handlers and firefighters, whose warning strikes caused chaos at Germany’s main airports, followed settlements this year for steelworkers and train drivers of between 5.2 per cent and 11 per cent.
The people vs. the powerful. The people can't move around because the powerful have a monopoly to get themselves overpaid by buying through campaign contributions politicians on the make.
