Powerful Chicago Alderman Wants City Income Tax

The Chicago Sun-Times reports on Alderman Dick Mell:
Ald. Mell was so concerned about "all of the nickel-and-dime taxes" he advocated a Manhattan-style city income tax. If the Legislature could ever be persuaded to authorize it, "85 percent of real estate taxes" could be eliminated, Mell said.
I'll bet you can name that party that Dick Mell belongs to.
