Sanitation Worker Suspended for Noose in Truck

Indiana News Center reports:
An Indiana sanitation worker has been suspended without pay after a noose was found hanging in his truck.

Muncie city officials say the noose was spotted Monday afternoon right before the end of the work day. The truck was empty but several employees reported what they saw to a supervisor.

Some workers say they weren't offended but others were. They contacted local community leaders and an investigation was launched.

At a meeting on Wednesday, a worker stepped forward to take responsibility for placing the noose in the truck. He says he hung it from his rearview mirror as a Halloween decoration.

The city suspended him for 30 days and ordered him to attend sensitivity training. He also has to make a public apology.

Although city officials say they don't believe the worker acted in a malicious manner they hope people will learn from the actions taken against him.
