Federal officials have found that the Los Angeles Fire Department has violated civil rights laws by subjecting African American and women firefighters to a "pattern and practice" of discrimination, harassment and retaliation, according to records obtained by The Times.Doesn't the very Democratic town of Los Angeles care about minorities?
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued its conclusion in a letter sent Friday to the department. "The evidence is sufficient to establish a violation ... of the Civil Rights Act," wrote Olophius E. Perry, director of the commission's Los Angeles District Office.
