Federal officials find discrimination at L.A. Fire Dept.

The L.A. Times reports:
Federal officials have found that the Los Angeles Fire Department has violated civil rights laws by subjecting African American and women firefighters to a "pattern and practice" of discrimination, harassment and retaliation, according to records obtained by The Times.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued its conclusion in a letter sent Friday to the department. "The evidence is sufficient to establish a violation ... of the Civil Rights Act," wrote Olophius E. Perry, director of the commission's Los Angeles District Office.
Doesn't the very Democratic town of Los Angeles care about minorities?
