Cook County Staffer Busted For Smoking Hash At Work

CBS TV Chicago reports:
A longtime Cook County employee was busted in the stairwell of the County Building on Wednesday for allegedly smoking hash.

Michael Sexton, 35, was arrested after a sheriff’s deputy patrolling the stairwell at 118 N. Clark reported smelling drugs being smoked near the eighth floor.

Sexton, who has worked as an appraiser in the assessor’s office since 1995, was arrested at 10:15 a.m. as he emerged on the fourth floor, sheriff’s spokeswoman Penny Mateck said.

Sexton, of Chicago, allegedly was found with a metal pipe and a small amount of hashish -- a tar-like, potent form of marijuana -- and charged with two misdemeanors.

Assessor spokesman Lucio Guerrero said Sexton will be suspended without pay pending an investigation.
Great moments in government.
