Chicago Mobsters Found Guilty of Racketeering in Family Secrets Trial

The Chicago Tribune reports:
The federal jury in the landmark Family Secrets mob conspiracy trial this afternoon found all five defendants guilty of racketeering conspiracy, the most serious charge in the case.

Jurors convicted Outfit figures James Marcello, Joey "the Clown" Lombardo, Frank Calabrese Sr. and Paul "the Indian" Schiro as well as Anthony "Twan" Doyle, a former Chicago police officer on the one key count.

The court was still in session at 2:35 p.m. and the verdicts on the remaining counts were still being announced.

Under the racketeering conspiracy charge, prosecutors said the Chicago Outfit extorted "street taxes" from businesses, operated illegal sports bookmaking and video gambling businesses, made high-interest "juice" loans and protected its interests through violence and murder.

The jury deliberated for four days last week and about an hour today before announcing it had reached a verdict.
This makes the entire Chicago Outfit a racketeering enterprise. Here's more from ABC TV Chicago.
