San Francisco officials released guidelines Monday clarifying the city's groundbreaking sick leave law, including directives about salaried employees and when employers can require a doctor's note.The Welfare-State expands in San Francisco.
The law, approved by voters in November, requires all businesses to provide paid leave to employees who work in the city.
Although the law took effect in February, details remained unclear. The city's Office of Labor Standards Enforcement held a series of hearings and discussions throughout the spring to come up with answers.
"We think we've covered everything that impacts different groups," said labor standards manager Donna Levitt.
