Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton told a union audience yesterday that "high value" American jobs are going to Canada because lower health-care costs north of the border have become such a competitive advantage. No word yet on Clinton explaining why jobs are moving from Michigan to Alabama.Or why New York State is going to lose another member of Congress or two after the next census.
The New York senator said the U.S. has to get its health-care costs under control or continue to see jobs flee north.
"That's why we have to have universal, quality, affordable health care," she told members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
"It's a jobs issue as well as a health issue."
Clinton specifically referred to auto workers jobs moving from Michigan to Ontario, an argument Canadian Auto Workers union boss Buzz Hargrove dismissed as groundless.
He said although Canadians enjoy a substantial advantage in health care costs, auto workers are bleeding jobs on both sides of the border because of overseas imports.
