As part of the 1986 immigration amnesty, Congress toughened up the verification that employers and employees have to do when someone is hired for a job. Every employee - US citizen, legal immigrant, or whatever - is supposed to present, and the employer is supposed to verify, documents establishing the employee’s right to legally work in the United States. This verification is documented in the mandatory form I-9 that employers are supposed to then keep on file.Check this one out.
