Trump in Chicago : 'We're trying to make some good deals'

Crain's Chicago Business reports:
Donald Trump is adding units and freezing prices in an effort to improve slumping condominium sales at his Trump International Hotel & Tower.

At the downtown Chicago construction site Thursday with his three adult children, Mr. Trump acknowledged that sales of the luxury condominiums have been weak for the past year, mirroring the broader slowdown in the residential real estate market.

“The housing market in Chicago is only so-so, and we’ve felt it,” Mr. Trump said.

In response to the market, the Trump Organization is offering more condos at lower price points, doing so by dividing some of the larger condos into smaller units. That’s raised the total number of condominiums to 826 from 758.

When the 92-story project began in January 2005, Trump was offering 287 hotel condominiums and 472 residential condominiums. By dividing up some of the larger, three-bedroom units, there now will be 339 hotel condominiums and 486 residential condominiums.
Do you really think Donald would be showing up if things weren't really bad in Chicago for his building?
