Chicago cop convicted

The Chicago Tribune reports:
Eural Black whispered, "I'm sorry," and tearfully hugged his family Friday after a federal jury convicted him of being part of a crew of rogue Chicago police officers who shook down drug dealers for narcotics and cash in Englewood.

Black, the only officer of the five charged who took his case to trial, now faces the most prison time. His conviction on charges of racketeering and conspiracy committed while he was armed ensures a minimum sentence of 40 years, prosecutors said.

Other officers charged in 2005, including ringleaders Broderick Jones and Corey Flagg, likely will face far less time because they pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with the FBI and U.S. attorney's office.
Just think, you can own a gun in Chicago to protect yourself against those with a monopoly on guns. How about that.
