Attorney: 6 Off-Duty Chicago Cops Beat Businessmen In Bar

CBS TV Chicago reports:
An attorney is claiming four men were brutally beaten a few months ago by off-duty Chicago Police officers in a bar, less than a week after an officer was charged in a similar incident.

Their attorney says the attack was caught on tape, although the video has not been released.

Attorney Sally Saltzberg, who represented all four victims, told CBS 2 the men were at the Jefferson Tap and Grille, at 325 N. Jefferson St., when they were attacked by six off-duty Chicago Police officers.

When other bar patrons called 9-1-1, uniformed police officers came to the scene, but left after being waved off by the officers who allegedly attacked the patrons, Saltzberg said.

A total of 15 off-duty officers were involved in the incident, with six of them beating the patrons, Saltzberg added.

The patrons were all businessmen – two of them traders at the Chicago Board of Trade, the other two a restaurant manager and private investor. They were identified as brothers Aaron and Barry Gilfand, Adam Mastrucci, and Scott Lowrance, Saltzberg said.

While standing at a pool table, Aaron Gilfand was first approached by a man who said something he did not hear, then he was grabbed and thrown to the floor, Salztberg alleged. She claimed Lowrance was knocked unconscious immediately, while Barry Gilfand was dragged to the sidewalk and beaten there.
Imagine that.Chicago, the town where only cops can own guns, have a monopoly on doing harm.No word yet from the gun banners on why only police should be allowed to own guns.
