Some Wonder Why Government Workers Need Chauffeurs

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Carlos Estes walked into a Springfield hotel suite during a May 2003 state business trip and saw his boss, Teyonda Wertz, changing her clothes through an open bedroom door, he claims.

She didn't bother to close it.

"She was in the process of changing from dress clothes to some pajamas that looked like they were silk pajamas."

Minutes later, Wertz -- the $93,500-a-year chief of staff in the state Human Services Department -- demanded Estes sleep with her. "You'll make love to me or you'll lose your job," he claims she told him.

Estes, who said he rebuffed Wertz's alleged advance, was fired less than a month later and has sued the state agency in federal court for sexual harassment.
Great moments in government spending.
