Arguing that City Hall corruption that once gave him "huge pause" about Mayor Daley is being cleaned up, Sen. Barack Obama on Monday endorsed Daley's bid for a sixth term. Not many cities' want the highest retail sales tax in the country. Also, not many cities' want horrid public schools with high property taxes.Speaking of public schools,no word yet on when Obama is going to send his children to those fine Chicago Public Schools.Obama is supporting the status quo by coming out for Mayor Daley.
Obama denied that he was simply returning the favor for Daley's support for the senator's 2008 presidential bid. But two mayoral challengers denounced Obama's endorsement of Daley as a quid pro quo.
"Even his detractors acknowledge that the city has been well-managed and has performed in all respects in ways that are the envy of a lot of other cities across the country," Obama said at a news conference at the mayor's Loop campaign headquarters.
