Chicago Aldermen Have High Felony Conviction Rates

The Chicago Sun-Times reports on the amazingly large number of corrupt Chicago Aldermen:
18 aldermen or former aldermen have been convicted on corruption-related charges since 1980. Here are the most recent:

Stanley Zydlo (26th) pleaded guilty in 1980 to paying a bribe

William Carothers (28th) convicted in 1983 of attempted extortion

Louis P. Farina (36th) convicted in 1983 of extortion


Tyrone T. Kenner (3rd) convicted in 1984 of taking bribes

Chester Kuta (31st) pleaded guilty in 1987 to tax fraud

Clifford P. Kelley (20th) pleaded guilty in 1987 to taking bribes

Wallace Davis Jr. (27th) convicted in 1987 of extortion

Perry Hutchinson (9th) pleaded guilty in 1989 to taking bribes

Marian Humes (8th) pleaded guilty in 1989 to taking bribes

Fred Roti (1st) convicted of bribery, extortion and racketeering in 1993

Ambrosio Medrano (25th) pleaded guilty in January 1996 to extortion

Allan Streeter (17th) pleaded guilty in April 1996 to extortion

Joseph Martinez (31st) pleaded guilty in January 1997 to holding a ghost payroll job after he served as alderman

Jesse Evans (21st) convicted in June 1997 on racketeering and extortion

John Madryzk (13th) pleaded guilty in May 1998 to a ghost-payrolling scheme

Larry Bloom (5th) pleaded guilty in December 1998 to tax evasion

Virgil Jones (15th) convicted Jan. 28, 1999, for taking bribes

Percy Giles (37th) found guilty Nov. 9, 1999, of taking payoffs and tax evasion

We know of no other profession that has a higher felony conviction rate.It says something about a profession that wants to tax and regulate.Majority voting is a very effective way to steal wealth.
