Poor and overweight

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
More than one-third of poor, inner-city toddlers are overweight or obese, according to a survey in Chicago and 19 other cities.

The problem is especially severe among Hispanic toddlers.

Researchers called the results deeply disturbing. Fat kids are more likely to become fat adults. They also are more prone to diabetes and other conditions that increase their risk of heart disease later on.

"These children are already disadvantaged because their families are poor, and by age 3, they are on track for a lifetime of health problems related to obesity," said lead researcher Rachel Kimbro of the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
What will the poverty industrial complex say about this?
