Indiana homeowner kills suspected robber

The Indianapolis Star reports:
Police say a homeowner shot and killed a suspected robber this morning on the Westside.

Eric Williams heard someone breaking into his home in the 200 block of Tremont Street at 1:52 a.m., Indianapolis police Sgt. Columbus Ricks said. Williams grabbed his handgun, which police say he legally owns, and confronted an intruder.

Williams fired several shots, police said, and the intruder returned fire. Williams hit the suspect, the suspect’s shot hit a door casing, police said.

The suspect fled and was later found in an alley about a half-block north of the home.

Mark Yant, 22, 600 block of North Exeter Avenue, was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital where he died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Marion County coroner’s office.
Here's a story the New York Times will not put on the front page.
