Illinois Politician has employees pick up carpet for $1700

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
- Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White's office dispatched two employees to Georgia last week to pick up new carpeting for the boss' inaugural.

White, who will be sworn in Jan. 10 to a third term, is hosting a reception for the affair at his Capitol office. Two employees drove south to pick up $20,000 of carpet, Illinois Radio Network reported Friday.

Shipping the carpet would have cost $600, but it would not have been delivered in time, White spokesman Randy Nehrt said. The employees' trip will cost taxpayers $1,700.
Some of the worst people in society gravitate towards politics because they can spend other people's money.
