New York State Supreme Court Raises Taxes For NYC Schools

The AP reports:
New York's highest court on Monday ordered the state to pay an additional $1.93 billion a year to provide "a sound, basic education" to New York City school children.

The state had argued that $1.93 billion was the minimum needed to improve the schools, an amount at the low end of funding recommended by Gov. George Pataki's education reform commission to settle a 1993 lawsuit filed by the Campaign for Fiscal Equity.

Isn't it amazing that the New York State Supreme Court knows what a "sound and basic education" is? We thought the New York State legislature makes laws.I guess the New York State Supreme Court doesn't believe in the separation of powers.Every judge who voted for this deserves to be impeached.
