Ex-sheriff's deputy accused of robbing bank

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
A former San Joaquin County sheriff's deputy arrested on suspicion of robbing a Sacramento County bank is being investigated in other bank holdups, including two in the South Bay, authorities said.

Timothy James Kelly, 45, of Ripon (San Joaquin County) was arrested Thursday after a police chase during which he crashed his car, authorities said. He was charged Monday in U.S. District Court in Sacramento with robbing a Bank of America in Elk Grove of $12,842 last month.

Kelly is a suspect in the robbery of a Citibank on Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose on Aug. 9 and the Wells Fargo Bank on North Winchester Boulevard in Santa Clara on Sept. 1., the FBI said. In the Citibank holdup, the suspect was wearing dark sunglasses and a cowboy hat, San Jose police said.
Imagine that.
