Mayor Daley Again Defends Hastert

The Chicago Tribune reports:
In Chicago, Mayor Richard Daley stopped short of absolving Hastert from any responsibility in the page scandal, but when he was asked if the scandal provides a good chance for Democrats to retake the House, he replied, "I hope not on that issue, because this has nothing to do with the election."

"Let's look at real issues instead of getting tangent issues," Daley said.

Daley also praised Hastert for bringing federal dollars to the city. The mayor hinted that if Democrats retake the House and Pelosi becomes speaker, Chicago will be worse off.

"She hails from California," Daley said. "Rightfully so, and she will take care of California."
I guess some Democrats realize having a Republican sugardaddy in Washington makes it easier to extort money from the taxpayers.
