Milwaukee Girl Who Was Gang Raped Has HIV

The AP reports:

The oldest man charged in the case of an 11-year-old girl who authorities say had sex with as many as 20 people said she looked like she was 19 or 20 to him.

"She looked grown to me, man," Freeman Gurley said in a phone interview Sunday with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel from the Milwaukee County Jail.

Gurley, 40, who is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child, said he was sorry he got involved and didn't do anything to stop what was going on in his house last week.

Resigned to having HIV

He told the newspaper that, after returning home from work, he went to a locked bedroom in his house where he heard moaning from inside and eventually was let into the room, where he saw ''12, 13 or 14'' other men and teens.

Gurley said the girl freely had sex with several men during the hour he was present. Gurley said she eventually agreed to have sex with him.

Alderman Michael McGee has said the girl had been infected with HIV since birth and her mother died of AIDS.

A rather sad story that isn't going away.
