Sen. James Meeks Says Chicago Public Education Getting Worse Under Mayor Daley

The Chicago Defender reports:
“Every high school in the city of Chicago was performing better 10 years ago when Mayor Daley took over the school system than they are now,” Meeks said.

He said he has 1995 TAP Reading Scores and the 1995 TAP Math Scores from 59 Chicago high schools. Meeks also has 2005 PSAE Composite Scores from those same 59 high schools.

“And in every school, more kids were at or above grade level in ’95 than they are in 2005,” he said.
I guess not everyone believes Chicago is the "role model" for public education. The facts are stubborn things.
