Bob Geldof slams 'gangster' EU at Stadium

A COMBATIVE Bob Geldof yesterday strode into the Millennium Stadium and described trade rules which subsidise European farmers but lock out developing nations as the work of a gangster state.

He said, "The EU is the greatest protection racket ever invented. Al Capone would be desperately proud of the EU - we've just extended our fences to the east."

Mr Geldof was yesterday's keynote speaker at B2B Wales. The free event, a landmark occasion in the Welsh business calendar, concludes today and is sponsored by the Western Mail.
