A COMBATIVE Bob Geldof yesterday strode into the Millennium Stadium and described trade rules which subsidise European farmers but lock out developing nations as the work of a gangster state.Politicians never really want free trade, it might hurt some of the people that fund their campaigns.
He said, "The EU is the greatest protection racket ever invented. Al Capone would be desperately proud of the EU - we've just extended our fences to the east."
Mr Geldof was yesterday's keynote speaker at B2B Wales. The free event, a landmark occasion in the Welsh business calendar, concludes today and is sponsored by the Western Mail.
