Will Chicago Be Indicted As A Racketeering Enterprise?

John Kass of the Chicago Tribune reports on the patronage trial in Chicago:
Daley's underlings are on trial for using tax dollars to allegedly build a massive patronage army in violation of federal court orders, allowing the mayor to bend aldermen, judges, state legislators and congressmen to his will.

If the jury convicts, I'm told prosecutors may be able to apply the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, also known as RICO, reaching back in time, targeting Daley's 11th Ward. That might be why folks in Bridgeport no longer name their children Ricco.
An institution that wants to steal money by majority vote is a racketeering enterprise.Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.
