New York and Chicago Biggest Population Losers in New Census Estimates

The new U.S. Census estimates for cities over 100,000 people are out. From July 1,2004 to July 1,2005 New York City and Chicago were the biggest population losers.New York City lost 21,509 people. While Chicago lost 18,519.The other big population losers were Detriot with a loss of 12,451,Boston lost 8,626,San Diego lost 8,276,and Philadephia lost 7,974.Detriot seems to get the most bad press about decline. We say these other cities like Chicago and Philadephia should be mentioned in the same breath as Detriot. These population losing cities have something in common for the most part:artificially high real estate prices from regulation and zoning. This all adds up to as a place where most middle class people don't want to live.
