This morning, local TV viewers will hear eyebrow-raising accusations about union practices.Unions just aren't used of being criticized in some parts of the country.
"I think it's great my union dues are going to politicians I don't even like," says a man portraying a plant worker in a new ad, while an African-American man playing a construction worker proclaims with a smile, "I really like how the union discriminates against minorities."
The commercial, airing today during "Fox 2 News Morning," is part of an aggressive $5-million campaign by the Center for Union Facts, a Washington, D.C.-based group that won't disclose its financial backers.
The ad is likely to generate controversy in Michigan, a state with deep union roots.
