The Value of the New York Times and Some of Its Peers

The New York Times is having a difficult time like some of its peers. The stock price is down significantly from a couple of years of ago.It might be America's most influential newspaper but the company behind the newspaper isn't in the same league as some if its peers. The NYT market capitalization is $3.64 Billion. While The Tribune Company is worth $8.53 Billion, The Washington Post Company is worth $7.14 Billion, and Dow Jones Company is worth $3.2 Billion. The fact that the New York Times has lettered stock which doesn't make it a takeover target, means getting the stock into the Tribune's league is quite challenging.
