Patrick Fitzgerald Targets Illinois Democrats

Patrick Fitzgerald is going after Democrats. The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Prosecutors may call as witnesses three of Mayor Daley's cousins who had high-ranking city jobs and the mayor's former campaign manager at the trial of Daley's former patronage chief, a court filing shows.
Also in Illinois nepotism news:
A top Illinois environmental official has told investigators he "may have" warned a landfill owner that his state permit problems would not clear up until his relative, Ald. Richard Mell (33rd), patched up a feud with Gov. Blagojevich, sources told the Sun-Times.

The state official made the statement as part of a widening criminal investigation into whether the Blagojevich administration abused its power in temporarily shutting down the Joliet landfill last year. The Sun-Times is not identifying him because he is not a target of any probe.
Those who think Fitzgerald just goes after Republicans guess again.By now Fitzgerald is wondering why virtually everyone on the city of Chicago payroll is a registered Democrat yet patronage hiring is supposed to be illegal.
