BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- The special census is finished in one Hometown, and the numbers look good, according to officials.Look what happens when you take an anti-union stance like Wal-Mart: population grows.
Authorities said that preliminary figures from a special census indicate Bentonville has grown by about 9,000 people since the 2000 census.
The federal government still has to finalize the latest numbers, but the city appears likely to get more than $500,000 more per year in funding because of the increase.
Bentonville is just one of several northwest Arkansas cities recounting their populations.
Officials said that if the numbers continued to increase, northwest Arkansas could be designated an urban area, which would mean even more federal funds for the region.
