Boos show Joe’s hold on Dems is shaky

The New Haven Register reports:

While Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, D-Conn., felt the sting of boos from fellow state Democrats at their annual fund-raiser dinner Thursday, his supporters and political experts say it is unlikely the state’s junior senator will be dumped from office for supporting the war in Iraq.

At the state Democratic Party’s annual Jefferson Jackson Bailey dinner, Lieberman stood to address 1,700 party faithful and was greeted by a mixture of polite clapping and loud booing.


His speech, delivered in the darkened Convention Center in Hartford, was to a large extent ignored by the crowd, which continued to talk throughout, with Lieberman straining to be heard.
