After nearly a month of brainstorming, research and at least three missed target dates, Houston's Major League Soccer team has shed its 1836 name and replaced it with Dynamo.Business decision.
The team formerly known as 1836 will now be called Houston Dynamo.
The identity-starved team unveiled its new name at a news conference today at the Houston Museum of Natural Science's Wiess Energy Hall.
Last month, the team decided to drop 1836 because its connection to the year Texas gained independence from Mexico offended some Hispanics.
