Michigan Raises Minimum Wage

The Detriot News reports:
Michigan lawmakers on Thursday abruptly ended a nine-year freeze on the state's minimum wage, potentially bringing heftier paychecks to hundreds of thousands of workers.

In an unexpected move, the Senate voted unanimously to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 an hour to $6.95 Oct. 1. It would again increase to $7.15 on July 1, 2007, and to $7.40 on July 1, 2008.
Do you really think raising the cost of doing business in Michigan will bring more jobs?
