Cops investigating racist graffiti at DePaul University

The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
Chicago Police are investigating racist graffiti that was found scrawled inside a DePaul University campus dormitory early Wednesday.

The graffiti was found about 5:30 a.m. by residents of University Hall, who found messages scrawled in permanent marker in stairwells and other common areas.

The slurs included: "Go home N-----," "Remember Hitler," "whites only" and images of swastikas.
Why isn't this a property crime? Why does the MSM have to call it a hate crime?
