Mr. Stroger’s spokeswoman had a different take. Mr. Claypool’s acceptance of so much money from a handful of “white men” conflicts with his claim of reflecting diversity in his campaign, she said. As for the source of Mr. Stroger’s money, “Let them say what they want,” the spokeswoman said.
